Doylestown Porchfest to Bring Live Music to Homes and Businesses This Weekend

This Saturday, Oct. 4, Doylestown Porchfest will be bringing live music from every genre to 14 homes and businesses from 11:30 AM to 5 PM.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, Doylestown Porchfest will bring live music to the borough in a new event, with bands performing throughout the day, writes Ed Doyle for TAPinto Doylestown.

Porchfest has previously been held in nearby towns like Princeton and Perkasie, and Doylestown is hoping to turn this into an annual event.

More than 40 performers will be stationed on the porches of 14 businesses and homes, playing everything from classic rock and R&B to early 80s new wave and psychedelic country swing.

According to the website, the event will “transform front porches into lively performance stages and sidewalks into dance floors.”

Leslie Carson, one of the event’s organizers, said that the idea came to her during a gala for the Oscar Hammerstein Museum and Theatre Education Center.

“The porch owners in Doylestown were so welcoming,” said Carson. “And the musicians just started to pour in to volunteer to play.”

The event will begin at 11:30 AM and last until 5 PM, but most musicians will not begin playing until noon.

The streets will not be shut down for the event, so visitors are asked to remain on the sidewalks.
