During a recent meeting, the Doylestown Borough Council approved both preliminary and final land development plans for a 47-room boutique hotel at 57 West Court Street, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The hotel will be constructed at the site of the former Doylestown Borough Hall and police station.
Along with the guest rooms, the hotel will include a 100-seat event space and a 70-seat restaurant.
The rear parking lot will be upgraded for hotel use, and the east-side entrance will be closed. It will include 76 spaces, which is within the zoning requirements for the hotel.
The ground floor of the hotel will house 35 of the spaces, while 11 parking lifts will be used to increase parking spots. Parking will be fully managed on site 24 hours a day by a valet service.
A garage-level elevator inside the hotel will take guests to the Court Street lobby.
As part of the approval, the developer must provide a comprehensive signage plan to guide drivers from Court Street to the parking lot.
At the meeting, residents living in the immediate vicinity of the building once again raised their concerns over the impact of traffic and parking in their neighborhoods.
