Doylestown’s Village Improvement Association Shifts Focus to Mental Health

Doylestown’s Village Improvement Association is shifting its focus from supporting simply physical health to improving mental health.

The Village Improvement Association of Doylestown will be turning its efforts to improving mental health in the area through a new initiative, writes Ed Doyle for TAPinto Doylestown.

The association founded Doylestown Hospital in 1923 to support the health of residents in Doylestown.

Following Penn Medicine’s acquisition of Doylestown Health and Doylestown Hospital, the organization has decided to switch its focus to mental health.

Their new REACH program was developed to “create proactive pathways to mental well-being in the community.”

The organization’s hope is to improve the community’s access to mental health resources and promote awareness.

“The REACH initiative is one way we’re strengthening our focus on education, awareness, and resources that promote mental health and well-being,” VIA President Kathleen Krick said. “We believe that this simple word expresses who we are and where we are going. It signifies that we are extending our REACH, helping others to REACH connection and wellness, and that the VIA will REACH out, REACH in, REACH forward.”

The association will be making a large donation to the new Lenape Valley Foundation’s Bright Path for Behavioral Health Stabilization on Doylestown Hospital’s campus.
