The Doylestown Township Board of Supervisors has approved preliminary and final land development plans for the redevelopment of the former cinema at Barn Plaza, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.
The Brixmor Property Group, owner of the shopping center on Route 611, is planning to demolish the former Regal Cinema, along with its decorative silos, to make way for new restaurant and retail space.
“I reviewed the plan,” said Supervisor Judy Dixon. “I think it looks fabulous with what is going in there. The community is really going to enjoy it.”
Regal closed the Barn Plaza location in early 2023 after declaring bankruptcy and started to close operations nationwide, removing one of the shopping center’s key anchors.
Plans for the redevelopment include three buildings totaling 40,000 square feet. The building nearest the existing shopping center will house two restaurants, a Burtons Grill & Bar and a burger restaurant, each with outdoor dining areas and drive-through lanes.
Spanning 28,000 square feet, the largest building will feature prominent tenants designed to complement the nearby Whole Foods Market. The third building will have a drive-through coffee shop along with a number of new retail tenants.
