Yardley’s Richard Kind is an actor and comedian who has a unique relationship with fame, reports Jon LaPook for CBS News.
“I’ll walk down the street and somebody will go, ‘Oh, you’re a national treasure.’ And then I pass 250 people who don’t know who I am, and yet that person thinks I’m a national treasure!” said Kind.
The actor has made appearances in several films and TV shows, including “Only Murders in the Building,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Mid Century Modern” and “Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney.”
He also voiced the character Bing Bong in Pixar’s “Inside Out” and was nominated for a Tony for his role in Broadway’s “The Big Knife.”
Kind discussed how he grew up learning to laugh in the face of bullies. He eventually found self-confidence on the stage while doing improv at The Second City.
Kind’s career has been built on making people smile and laugh, something he continues to do to this day.
While he may not be the most recognizable actor, Kind notes he’s happy with the level of fame he’s reached.
“I am parsley on a plate of meat and potatoes,” he said. “Now, I’m good. I look great there. I’m the freshest parsley! But they’re meat and potatoes. What do I do? I help make the plate look great. That’s fine.”
