Those in Bucks County enjoying some stargazing will also have the chance to watch a special meteor shower, writes Jess Rohan and Anthony Robledo for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The Alpha Capricornids shower began on July 7 and is continuing until Aug. 15. According to the American Meteor Society (AMS), this celestial event will reach its peak next week, the night of July 29 into July 30.
The meteor shower will be the most visible after midnight, as the moon will be less full.
For the best views, locals should try to visit areas with low light pollution. Places like Goat Hill Overlook in Lambertville and Lake Nockamixon in Quakertown will have dark skies perfect for viewing.
“This shower is not very strong and rarely produces in excess of five shower members per hour,” the AMS stated. “What is notable about this shower is the number of bright fireballs produced during its activity period.”
This event coincides with the Perseids meteor shower, which will also be visible through August.
