Jacqui Heinrich, the White House correspondent for Fox News, is engaged to Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, writes Erin Clack for People Magazine. 

The pair were on a romantic trip to Valensole in Provence, walking through a lavender field, when Fitzpatrick proposed.  

Heinrich had mentioned her hope to visit the French Riviera to enjoy the sights and cuisine a year before their engagement. Fitzpatrick decided to plan a trip to the country as a birthday gift. 

“He was like, ‘We are going. We’re going to the lavender fields. All I want is to see the lavender fields at sunrise,’” said Heinrich. “All the time I’ve known this man, he has never been desperate to see a field of flowers at dawn. So I had a feeling that [a proposal] was the goal.” 

On their early morning drive to Valensole on June 29, Fitzpatrick stopped the car and offered to take pictures of Heinrich in one of the fields. The congressman then popped the question. 

“It was so breathtaking,” she said. “The smell was just so fragrant. It’s a memory that will be seared into my brain for life. It’s hard to even put into words just how gorgeous it really was. It felt like a fairy tale.” 

The pair then enjoyed a brief trip through the south of France before returning to D.C. for the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ vote.
