Two Chester County school districts rank among the best in the state according to standardized test scores, writes Ethan Lott for Philadelphia Business Journal.
Unionville-Chadds Ford and Tredyffrin-Easttown School Districts placed at No. 8 and No. 12, respectively, in a statewide district ranking by Pittsburgh Business Times. The journal evaluated 482 of the state’s 500 school districts for the ranking.
The ranking utilized Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) and Keystone Exam scores from 2022, 2023, and 2024. This included PSSA scores for math, English, and science, as well as Keystone test scores for literature, algebra, and biology.
The evaluation excluded 2022 Keystone results due to missing data from Keystone biology exams.
The districts’ ranking is based on the percentage of student scores that place in the top two standardized test categories.
Examiners then measured this score’s departure from the average score. Then, this “standard score” was summarized into a grade score, which was later summarized to give the district a final score.
Unionville-Chadds Ford’s placement remained the same as last year’s ranking. Tredyffrin-Easttown moved from to tenth from sixth place.
Tredyffrin-Easttown School District was also named one of the 100 best school districts in the country in a 2025 ranking by Niche.
