Hilco Global has hired former Bucks County U.S. Representative Patrick Murphy to advise corporate clients as employers are recruited for the property, writes Joseph N. DiStefano for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Hilco is a developer and liquidator of distressed assets based in Illinois, whose unit HRP Group is currently leading redevelopment of the two-square-mile Bellwether District on the site of Philadelphia’s former oil refineries.
Murphy represented Bucks County in Congress for four years until 2011. He also acted as Acting Army Secretary during the final years of former President Barack Obama’s second term.
Murphy will serve as chairman of the company’s new Hilco Global Geopolitical Unit.
A Bristol resident, Murphy is a partner in MKF Advisors, a lobbying and consulting firm.
He said that as part of his new role, he will lead a team that will offer Hilco clients research, briefings, and strategic advice, under rapidly evolving conditions “in an increasingly unpredictable world.”
Hilco also hired Alexander Niejelow, formerly with the National Security Council and Mastercard, for a similar advisory role.
The new leaders “will drive the expansion of our capabilities,” adding new Hilco advisory services to help clients “navigate complex risks,” said CEO Jeffrey B. Hecktman.
