The Torpedo Bats Taking the MLB by Storm Come from King of Prussia

Victus Sports’ new torpedo bat is powering MLB home runs and flying off shelves as demand skyrockets this season.

Baseball season is just getting started, and King of Prussia-based Victus Sports is already stealing the spotlight with its newest creation: the torpedo bat, write Hayden Mitman and Deanna Durante for NBC Philadelphia.

With a tapered end and weight shifted toward the sweet spot, the bat is designed to give hitters a little extra pop—and it’s working.

The New York Yankees made headlines after launching nine home runs in a single game using the bat, while other teams, including the Phillies and Orioles, are jumping on board. Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm even swung one in the home opener.

“It’s been the most exciting thing, really, that’s happened in baseball bats in the last 15 years, since we started,” said Victus founder Jared Smith, whose company has also created pencil-themed bats and other fan favorites. While the torpedo bat design isn’t brand new, Victus spent over a year fine-tuning it with MLB teams to get it game-ready.

According to hitting coach Dan Hennigan of Brain and Barrel Hitting, the design gives players a subtle edge by shifting weight toward the sweet spot—without breaking any rules.

With pros raving and retail demand surging, the torpedo bat might be baseball’s biggest breakout star this season—besides the players swinging them.
