The annual Time100 list, which recognizes individuals across a variety of different sectors changing the world, has been released and two Philadelphia representatives are on it, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
One of them is Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, and the other is Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon, owner of Kalaya.
Hurts was named as one of the individuals in the Icons category.
This year, the Eagles’ quarterback led team to a win in Super Bowl LIX, where Hurts was named the Super Bowl MVP.
Hurts was praised by Derek Jeter in the publication for his resilience and determination, which “offer all of us something to admire,” he wrote.
Suntaranon, meanwhile, was listed in the Innovators category.
The chef is a 2023 James Beard Award winner and released her first cookbook late last year, which highlights recipes from her Thai roots.
Fellow chef Michael Solomonov credits Suntaranon for creating a dining experience at her Fishtown restaurant, Kalaya.
He describes the experience as simply “an incredible meal in a beautiful place.”
