Taylor Swift fans, known as Swifties, have rallied to support Pipersville teen Lily Tomlinson following her diagnosis with a terminal brain tumor, writes Lacey Latch for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Over the last several months, the 13-year-old, a Swiftie herself, has received money, gifts, and much more to support her battle.
Lily was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, or DIPG, last year. She now uses a wheelchair after losing feeling on her right side and has a small tube in her nose providing nourishment.
“The typical prognosis is about eight months to a year after diagnosis,” said her mom, Kelsey. “Lily’s symptoms progressed very quickly so we were told that might not be our timeline.”
Lily moved back home from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in January to be with her family, and her parents have taken leave from their jobs to be with her. A GoFundMe campaign for Lily to raise money for a wheelchair surpassed the $75,000 goal after Swifties donated in $13 increments, a nod to Swift’s favorite number.
Lily’s family encourages people to keep sending letters and care packages to their daughter, continuing to bring her joy as her battle continues.
