Bucks County boasts a dozen covered bridges, each offering a glimpse into the area’s history while enhancing its natural beauty, writes Daniella Heminghaus for the Bucks County Courier Times.

These charming structures, such as the Historic Van Sandt Covered Bridge in New Hope, the Historic Erwinna Covered Bridge in Tinicum Township, and the Historic Frankenfield Covered Bridge in Erwinna, perfectly blend the craftsmanship of times past with the surrounding natural beauty.

The Historic Knechts Covered Bridge in Riegelsville features a commemorative stone in the bricks that marks the year it was built: 1873. The commemorative plaque in the bricks of the Historic Uhlerstown Covered Bridge in Tinicum Township is more recent, as it was put in place in 1981.

The beautiful bridges offer the perfect opportunity to capture stunning photographs, with the Historic Schofield Ford Covered Bridge in Newtown and the Historic South Perkasie Covered Bridge in Perkasie providing some especially picturesque locations. People can also simply enjoy their rustic craftsmanship while cycling through the county.
