Two-Time State Champion at Archbishop Wood, Deja Evans Finds Her Perfect Fit at Drexel

After one season at the University of Albany, Deja Evans, a two-time state champion at Archbishop Wood, found her perfect fit at Drexel University.

After one season at the University of Albany, Deja Evans, a two-time state champion at Archbishop Wood High School, found her perfect fit at Drexel University, writes Paulie Loscalzo for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The six-foot-two center is the biggest offseason addition to the women’s basketball program at Drexel, and she made her presence felt from the start. Evans solidified her role as the driving force behind the Dragons’ scoring defense – ranked among the top 50 in the country – while also establishing herself as a legitimate scoring threat.

Evans, who earned all-conference, all-defensive, and all-rookie honors in the America East during her season with Albany, decided to join Drexel because it seemed like a better off-the-court fit for her.

“Coming here, the community, the coaches, and the players just really made [Drexel] feel like a second home to me,” said the Conshohocken native. “As a person, I feel like it was the easiest transition I have ever done, to be honest. I connected so well with the girls and the coaches.”

Evans ranked in the CAA with 2.2 blocks per game and earned a spot on the conference’s all-defensive team.
