Pennsylvania Egg Heist: Case Remains Scrambled

Police are still working to identify the perpetrators behind the heist of 100,000 eggs from a trailer in Pennsylvania days after the theft.

Days after the theft, police are still working to identify the perpetrators behind the heist of 100,000 eggs from a trailer in Pennsylvania, writes the Associated Press for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

So far, no leads have come in for the crime the law enforcements believe could be tied to the sky-high cost of eggs, said Trooper First Class Megan Frazer, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania State Police.

“We’re relying on leads from people from the community,” she said. “So we’re hoping that somebody knows something, and they’ll call us and give us some tips.”

Police are also talking to all potential witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage in the hopes of solving the mystery.

Frazer, who has been on the job for about 12 years, has never seen something like this happen before.

The eggs, which were taken from the back of Pete & Gerry’s Organics’ distribution trailer in Antrim Township last weekend, are worth around $40,000, which makes this crime a felony.

Pete & Gerry’s Organics is helping police with their investigation.

The company noted that they are taking this matter seriously and have a commitment toward resolving it as quickly as possible.
