Certified Dietary Manager

Freedom Village at Brandywine is seeking a Certified Dietary Manager. This is a full-time salaried position, responsible for overseeing the Health Center food service program and providing the level of supervision necessary to ensure that courteous and efficient service is delivered, as well as high-quality and nutritious foods.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and supervising of Health Center dietary personnel.
  • Assist in developing all menus for Health Center residents, assessing preferences and nutritional needs. 
  • Assist in assuring staff education is provided to dietary personnel in accordance with the staff education plan, as well as provide on-the-job training for Health Center dietary personnel. 
  • Assist in developing work assignments for all dietary personnel, assigning specific jobs and spot checking work to ensure standards are met. 
  • Assure that each resident’s nutritional adequacy is met by utilizing the assurance of Nutritional Adequacy Policy. 
  • Maintain pertinent and appropriate records, reports, schedules, and studies as required by local, state, and federal regulations and otherwise requested. 
  • Initiate and supervise the completion of hands-on intakes as assigned. 
  • Maintain individual diet information by transcribing information from the dietitian’s weekly notes to the Kardex menu and nourishment list when indicated. 
  • Attend Care Plan Meeting.
  • Interview new admissions and document food preferences on the approved form. 
  • Contact the dietitian between scheduled visits if unplanned or special therapeutic diets are ordered. 
  • Assure that meal tallies are accurate on a daily basis.

This role requires:

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Must hold a C.D.M. (Certified Dietary Manager) certification in healthcare.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in food service operations of a health care setting.
  • Certified in safety and sanitation regarding food service.
  • Prefer experience in a long-term health care environment.
  • Experience with performing clinical assessments on residents, meeting with the Care Plan Team, and performing input on MDS.
  • Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process, and understand requests.
  • Can generate a warm, friendly, and caring manner on first impression.
  • Can communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Cook

Freedom Village at Brandywine is offering a Cook position with a salary range of $15 to $18 an hour, depending on skills and experience.

This position is responsible for full-scope, hands-on production cooking in the Community Culinary Services Department.  They are responsible for maintaining a superior level of quality service and cleanliness at all times.  

Some of the daily responsibilities for the Cook position include:

  • Exemplify at all times Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization.
  • Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards at all times.
  • Produce and serve menu cycle programs that are compliant with required Nutritional/Dietary criteria as required by local regulations and correctly prepare diets provided per Policy and Procedure.
  • Exhibit cooking standards of speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in all areas of cooking preparation and production.
  • Assist with serving meals and ware washing as necessary.
  • Visit residents periodically to evaluate food service such as quality, quantity, temperature, and appearance; and conduct evaluations to make revisions in operations/procedures to promote improved food service.
  • Represent the community in a warm and inviting manner, which creates a positive marketing environment.
  • Support creating a culture where the business decisions made in this position, along with individual employee engagement, drive top-line revenue and occupancy. 

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Minimum of one year of restaurant/senior living or equivalent cooking experience.
  • High school diploma.
  • A culinary degree is preferred.

Painter

Freedom Village at Brandywine is seeking a Painter.

The Painter is responsible for:

  • Overall assigned painting/wallcovering,
  • Maintaining the esthetics of high-traffic common areas (painting and wallcovering).
  • Restoring painted areas in vacated units to like-new conditions and performing drywall repairs as needed.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Three to five years of painting/wallcovering experience in a residential setting.
  • Working knowledge of commercial and residential painting/wallcovering.
  • Proficiency in the English language enabling the employee to read, write, comprehend and communicate simple instructions, correspondence, memos, etc.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
