Freedom Village at Brandywine made December a month of giving back in a heartfelt way.
Through a month-long initiative, the community collected and donated 500 pounds of food to the Chester County Food Bank and raised $2,000 through a resident-led flower sale to support local charities.
The food drive encouraged donations of non-perishable items throughout December, with an added twist for employees: staff who contributed food items on Fridays were rewarded with the opportunity to wear jeans to work.
The initiative combined goodwill with a sense of camaraderie, ultimately resulting in a significant contribution to the food bank, which serves families and individuals in need across Chester County.
Complementing the food drive, the Freedom Village Resident Outreach Committee organized a flower sale that raised $2,000. The proceeds were added to the committee’s general fund, which supports local charities throughout the year.
“This December initiative showcases the spirit of our Freedom Village family,” said Freedom Village Executive Director Danielle Geyer. “We are proud to give back to the community that has welcomed us so warmly and to support causes that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
These efforts underline Freedom Village’s commitment to the local community, demonstrating how a Life Plan Community can extend its mission beyond its walls.
