One of the busiest intersections in Middletown has been the scene of a blighted building at Woodbourne Road and Lincoln Highway.
Now that building will be rehabbed and reopened as a Piazza Volkswagen dealership, writes JD Mullane for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Land development at 1974 E. Lincoln Highway, site of an empty 20,000-square-foot building has been OK’d by the Middletown Board of Supervisors.
The refurbishment is an expansion of a Piazza franchise next door and will be one of several large car dealerships along the highway, according to Ed Murphy, a lawyer representing the company.
“It’s going to be completely gutted and completely refurbished inside and out. And it will have the same look as all the other Piazza dealership buildings, so it’s going to be completely brand new,” Murphy told the board, adding, “It’s been an eyesore since I was little. That’s a long time.”
The development was unanimously approved, with the condition that a Woodbourne Road entrance be modified so traffic can only turn right into and out of the dealership.
Piazza agreed to the condition.
The building had been a pop-up Spirit Halloween store in recent years.
