In 2023, Pennsylvania ranked first among states for casino tax revenue and second for sports betting tax revenue, according to a staff report from Doc’s Sports.
A Doc’s Sports study looked at data from the American Gaming Association to determine the revenue generated by commercial casinos and the corresponding tax income.
Last year, the Keystone State collected a total of $2.3 billion in tax revenue from casinos, which is a 10.6 percent increase compared to 2022. The only state that came close to Pennsylvania is New York, with a total of approximately $2 billion. Nevada is in third place with $1.2 billion in tax revenue from casinos.
Pennsylvania also came in second based on tax revenue from sports betting. The state collected more than $615 million in tax revenue last year, only behind New York with a total of $2 billion.
