Bucks County Ranks in Pennsylvania’s Top 10 for Life Expectancy
Bucks County is among Pennsylvania counties with the longest life expectancy, according to a ranking released by Stacker.
Stacker identified counties with the longest life expectancy in Pennsylvania using 2024 County Health Rankings & Roadmaps from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
Life expectancy calculates the average number of years from birth a person can be expected to live. It is determined based on the number of deaths and the average number of people at risk of dying in a given period.
Bucks County tied in ninth place with Northampton County and Lancaster County with an average life expectancy of 79.3 years. This is two years more than the statewide average.
Neighboring Montgomery County secured fourth place with a life expectancy of 80.1 years, while Chester County claimed the second-highest in the state coming in at 81.1 years.
In contrast, Delaware County ranked lowest among the collar counties, placing at No. 20 overall with a life expectancy of 77.6 years.
The county with the highest life expectancy is Center County at 81.6 years.
Life expectancy rates have been rising in the United States, with an increase of nearly seven years over the past half-century.
