New Mexican Cuisine Restaurant to Open at Fishtown-Kensington Border in 2025
Amá, a new restaurant serving elevated Mexican-inspired cuisine, is set to open at the Fishtown–Kensington border in early 2025, writes Franki Rudnesky for PhillyVoice.
The new Philadelphia restaurant will be the first for self-taught Mexican-born chef Frankie Ramirez. He will be opening the restaurant alongside his wife, Veronica, and fellow husband-and-wife restaurateur duo, Roberto Medina and Crisalida Mata.
Prior to this new upcoming project, Ramirez led kitchens at LMNO, Parc, and Enoteca Tredici, respectively.
Amá, another word for “mother” in Spanish, will fill a 4,300-square-foot space. It will feature 120 seats, including 20 seats at the bar and another 12 at a chef’s table near the kitchen. There will also be room for an additional 10 outdoor seats when weather permits is.
Furthermore, there’s also an open kitchen, allowing patrons to see and smell the chefs’ work on the coal and wood-fired grill.
Amá will feature a seasonal menu with more than 20 items inspired by the six main culinary regions of Mexico.
Ramirez highlighted that the restaurant will offer “old flavors, new hands, timeless recipes and new traditions.”
“If I had to define Amá in a few words, those words would be ‘delicious heartfelt experiences,'” he added.
