Bingo’s Foundation in Penndell had a chance this past weekend to introduce their cats to a loving public at its first Clear the Shelters Day Sept. 14, reports NBC 10 Philadelphia.
Bingo’s, now coming up on its 25th anniversary, worked with VCA Neshaminy Animal Hospital for the in-person event, but the Foundation’s Clear the Shelters campaign actually continues through today, Sept. 10.
The group was started in 2000 by a woman with a cat name Bingo who passed away from liver cancer.
“She wanted to do something as a memorial to her beloved pet and she founded Bingo’s Foundation,” said David Pfeifer, Bingo’s Foundation vice president. “Our mission obviously is to rescue cats in the lower Bucks County area although we do rescues throughout the entire Philadelphia area in terms of some of the adoptions that we have had.”
One cat that’s been with them now for a number of years is Bella, an older, long-haired tabby,
“Older cats make wonderful pets, particularly for senior citizens who don’t want a rambunctious kitten running around.
Those who did adopt at the Sept. 7 event adopt had their adoption fees waived.
