In the last two years, Montgomery County’s Michael and Melissa Meacham turned an outdated 1990s home into a modern farmhouse they named the Screaming Goat Farm, writes Laura Hoover for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“It was just plain,” said Melissa. “It was a run-of-the-mill house. But it was well built. I just knew my husband could fix the little things.”

The Brady Bunch-style split-level home sits on six acres adjacent to a three-mile trail within Green Lane Park.

Melissa, who grew up in Phoenixville and a cancer survivor, volunteers at Quakertown’s Last Chance Ranch. During her cancer treatment, Michael added a two-story barn and greenhouse to the property.

“I’m an outdoorsman,” he said. “I feel trapped when I’m inside for more than an hour. I love building things.”

During the renovation process, the couple tried to reuse as much as possible. They found gates on Facebook Marketplace, while the wood for the barn came from the Perkiomenville Auction & Flea Market. They also dug their own pond on the property.

The couple recently held an open house to introduce their rescue animals to the public.
