For Father Nelson Henao, who joined Devon Preparatory School in July 2023, the first year was primarily about listening, learning, and building relationships, writes Lisa Dukart for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
“I came with the certainty that I couldn’t come to change everything at once because that doesn’t work,” said Henao. “I truly believe in the capacity, the love, the passion that the people have here at Devon, our faculty, the staff, of the people working here.”
This is not Henao’s first stint at the school, which made it even more exciting for him to return.
“When they asked me to come back to Devon, at the beginning, it’s a big change,” he said. “But my superiors, they said, ‘Nelson, you have good relationships there. They believe that you can be the person representing the Piarists Fathers and try to bring together all these projects that have been happening.’”
Henao, a Bogota, Colombia, native, is glad he accepted the opportunity and is satisfied with what he has achieved so far.
“I believe that it has been a successful year,” he said.
