The Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC) has secured critical funding from the Gene and Marlene Epstein Foundation to support seniors over 70 facing economic hardships, writes Jeff Werner for The Patch.
This grant will provide essential relief for housing, utilities, transportation, food insecurity, and medical expenses.
Philanthropist Gene Epstein, who auctioned his 1970 Mercedes Roadster, allocated the proceeds to benefit BCOC, The Christmas Gala, and Family Service Association of Bucks County.
The pilot program will assist 20 households with up to $3,000 in aid over six months, including gift cards, rent payments, and transportation support. This effort aims to prevent crises and ensure stable housing.
BCOC, Bucks County’s leading anti-poverty organization, has been fighting poverty for over 59 years through housing, food distribution, weatherization, tax assistance, and self-sufficiency programs, empowering families to achieve economic stability.
