Founded in 1974, NOVA or Network of Victim Assistance is celebrating its 50th year serving victims of all serious crimes, writes Emily Neil for WHYY. Executive Director Penelope Ettinger emphasized that victims can access NOVA’s services without filing a police report.
To date, NOVA has assisted over 100,000 victims and educated more than 800,000 through prevention programs. The organization runs tailored programs in all county school districts to empower people to protect themselves and their loved ones.
A crucial aspect of NOVA’s support is its forensic nursing program, offering exams and evidence recording for sexual assault victims. Nurses also work with local hospitals and domestic violence centers to provide their services.
NOVA’s continuous support and dedication to empowering victims ensure they never have to face their trauma alone.
