Fordhook Farm, the historic Burpee property in Doylestown Township, will host its annual Open on July 27, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.

This free event offers a rare opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens of Fordhook Farm, with self-guided tours and interactions with the Burpee horticulture team and Penn State master gardeners.

Founded in 1876 as W. Atlee Burpee Company, Burpee purchased the 60-acre Fordhook Farm in 1888 for research and plant trials.

The Burpee Open allows visitors to appreciate the botanical garden’s beauty through multiple perspectives, including its family history, horticultural significance, and role in American gardening.

This year’s event will feature food trucks, live music, horticultural speakers, garden shops, and activities for children.

A detailed schedule and map of Fordhook Garden are available online.
