New Jersey-based Dispensary Hides $3,000 Worth of Marijuana in Philadelphia’s Gayborhood for Pride Weekend
While recreational cannabis may not be legal yet in Pennsylvania, a New Jersey-based dispensary has hid $3,000 worth of it — in the form of three $1,000 vouchers — in Philadelphia’s Gayborhood ahead of Pride Weekend.
Camden Apothecary, which opened in 2021, is situated adjacent to the historic Bell Pharmacy and is managed by the same owner, Tony Minniti. The Bell Pharmacy has been a longstanding resource for the LGBTQ+ community, providing HIV-certified disease state management, PrEP counseling, and other comprehensive specialized services.
The dispensary is the only one in the nation to have sold cannabis both before and after its prohibition in 1937, and takes a unique and sometimes unconventional approach to everything it does. This includes community relations.
Now, Camden Apothecary, Bell Pharmacy’s sister company, is reaching out to the LGBTQ+ community in its own way.
“At the end of the day, we’re a recreational cannabis dispensary, so we don’t take ourselves too seriously,” said Minniti. “But we also want the community to know that just like Bell Pharmacy, we’re a safe space for everybody—and we’re extremely excited to be involved in this year’s Pride Weekend!”
In addition to its $3,000 Pride Weekend scavenger hunt, Camden Apothecary is also offering a voucher promotion where a 10 percent discount will be given to the customer and another 10 percent will be donated to the William Way LGBT Community Center.
To place yourself in the running to find the $3,000 worth of cannabis or obtain some discount vouchers while benefitting William Way, be sure to visit Camden Apothecary’s van during Pride weekend.
