As multiple organizations celebrate Pride Month in Bucks County, the local government is acknowledging the occasion in a special way.

The Bucks County government recently presented a proclamation to New Hope Celebrates, a nonprofit that acknowledges individuals and organizations in the area affiliated with the LGBTQ+ community.

At a recent meeting, Robert Szwaikos, a Newtown Borough Council member and solicitor of New Hope Celebrates, told viewers “We are not unequal. We are all equal.”

In honor of the month, a rainbow flag will fly in front of the Bucks County Administration Building for the entire month of June.

New Hope Celebrates is known for hosting PrideFest, an annual event that is held in the areas of New Hope and nearby Lambertville, a small town in New Jersey considered to be the sister town of the Bucks County riverside community.

“Set in the lush greenery of the Delaware River Valley, our Pride festival connects two towns in two different states by the New Hope & Lambertville Bridge,” organizers said online. “Drawing more than 15,000 people annually, New Hope Celebrates joins together the LGBT friendly towns of Lambertville, NJ and New Hope, PA.”
