Bucks County is among the 22 counties in Pennsylvania that Governor Josh Shapiro is investing $274 million in for water infrastructure improvements.
This funding, managed by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), is poised for 30 projects focusing on drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and agricultural runoff management to enhance public health and environmental safety.
A highlight from Bucks County is the initiative by Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc., which received a $6.77 million grant to upgrade its Edgley groundwater well field.
The project involves installing advanced treatment equipment to reduce the levels of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in drinking water, specifically targeting Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctanesulfonic Acid (PFOS).
This includes the addition of six new filter vessels, enhanced pumping capacity, and a large waste holding tank for safer disposal of contaminants.
