Jalil Bethea Named Pennsylvania 6A Basketball Player of the Year: A Look at His Stellar Season

Archbishop Wood senior Jalil Bethea is adding another accolade to his impressive high school career as a basketball player.

Archbishop Wood senior Jalil Bethea has been named Pennsylvania State Boys Basketball Class 6A Player of the Year, adding another accolade to his impressive high school career, writes Tom Moore for the Bucks County Courier Times.  

Bethea, who is the school’s first McDonald’s All-American, has also been recognized as the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year and repeated as the Philadelphia Catholic League MVP. 

A Miami signee and the all-time leading scorer at Archbishop Wood with 1,693 points, Bethea is ranked as the No. 6 prospect in the class of 2024. 

During his senior year, the 6-foot-4 guard boasted an average of 22.7 points, 7 rebounds, and an impressive 88.3 percent free-throw accuracy.  

He recently showcased his talents at the prestigious Jordan Brand Classic in Brooklyn

Other notable players from the Bucks County area include Archbishop Wood’s Josh Reed, who made the second team and has committed to Drexel, as well as Holy Ghost Prep’s Adrien Varella and Germantown Academy’s Bryce Rollerson, who both had standout seasons in their respective categories.
