Doylestown Dedicates Bridge to Fallen Army Ranger, Captain Connor J. Bednarzyk

Doylestown Township recently renamed the Route 202 bridge over Almshouse Road to honor Captain Connor J. Bednarzyk, a U.S. Army Ranger.

Doylestown Township recently renamed the Route 202 bridge over Almshouse Road to honor Captain Connor J. Bednarzyk, a U.S. Army Ranger and local graduate who tragically lost his life during a training mission in 2018, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The dedication ceremony, held on April 4 at the township building, was attended by state and local officials, friends, family, and notably, Bednarzyk’s parents, Ruth and Casey.

Captain Bednarzyk, was a Central Bucks East High School and Penn State University alum. His commitment extended beyond his military service, as he was known for his leadership and care for others from a young age.

State Rep. Shelby Labs, who sponsored the legislation for the renaming, emphasized the bridge as a perpetual reminder of Bednarzyk’s contributions.

Connor’s father shared that from a young age, Connor had a deep fascination with bridges. Whenever they traveled to New England for holiday visits, Connor would curiously inquire if the bridges they crossed were larger than the Empire State Building

“The amazing thing was that when we moved him to Colorado he picked out a picture of the Brooklyn Bridge for his apartment. Now, how relevant is it that there’s now a bridge named after him?” He said.
