Doylestown is buzzing with excitement for the annual fishing derby at Chapman Park on April 6, marking the start of trout season for youths, writes Ed Doyle for TapintoDoylestown.

A subsequent May 4 event welcomes disabled veterans and seniors. With a history dating back to the 1950s, this community hallmark attracts up to 500 enthusiasts eager to partake in the festivity.

Volunteers and kids prepped by stocking the pond with over 1,000 trout. While Pennsylvania’s strict fishing guidelines will be observed, allowing adults limited involvement, the focus remains on fostering a love for fishing among the younger generation.

This year’s derby will include prizes for tagged catches, free meals, and is fueled by generous local donations.
