A New Jersey metro area just across the Delaware River has been ranked as one of the top ten best places to live in the United States for quality of life, writes Amanda Wallace for NorthJersey.com.

U.S. News and World Report compiled the ranking, based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI, and U.S. Department of Labor.

The ranking was based on factors such as crime, availability of health care, air quality, education quality, housing affordability, weather, desirability to live in the area, unemployment rate, and average annual salary.

Based on these factors, which were weighted based on answers from a public survey conducted in March 2023, Trenton, New Jersey made the 10th-best place to live in the United States.

While there are high poverty rates in Trenton, the greater metropolitan area includes affluent towns.

The Trenton Metro area also ranked highly due to the availability of public transportation, proximity to major cities like New York and Philadelphia, and affordable housing.

The average home price in the Trenton metro area is $344,842 and the median monthly rent is $1,361.

The Trenton metropolitan area also has access to various attractions such as Mercer Meadows and Grounds for Sculpture.
