Rodney Wyatt joined the Marines in 1972. Now, he is continuing to serve his community through his work with a local for pantry. Alicia Roberts wrote about the local veteran for CBS Philadelphia.

Wyatt has been working with Salute2Service in order to combat hunger in the Bucks County area. As part of his initiative, he is feeding hundreds of local families in need very Tuesday. This past week, Wyatt saw 400 families get the food they need.

With an estimated one in four families in Bucks County struggling with food insecurity, Wyatt’s partnership with the veteran-owned nonprofit is helping dozens of families every week.

He began to work with them after retiring from the service. In his later years, Wyatt is still serving his community in a different way, and there are many families who have been directly assisted by him and the nonprofit organization.

“If everybody pitched in to help somebody else, we could eliminate a lot of hunger,” Wyatt said. “I want to be put out of business. I’d like to be out of business because that ‘s when I know people are taken care of.”
