The Central Bucks Chapter of The National Charity League has joined forces with A Love for Life nonprofit for a special Valentine’s Day project, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

Members of The National Charity League created 1,000 valentines for donors of the Newtown-based pancreatic cancer research nonprofit.

The local chapter of NCL offers hands-on volunteer service to 20 local philanthropic organizations. Members consist of women and their daughters, grades 7-12, who enjoy cultural experiences and develop leadership skills through their volunteering.

The group first partnered with A Love for Life nine years ago. Since then, its members have helped with the nonprofit’s annual Oktoberfest fundraiser and its dragon boat races, as well as providing volunteers for the annual Newtown Shamrock Shuffle 5K.

“The girls really enjoyed working on a fun project that holds a far deeper meaning than just cutting out doilies and stamping purple hearts,” said Julianne Coleman, a Doylestown mom and coordinator of the Valentine project.

“It was a chance to come together in the evenings and produce small works of art to share with donors, and to show gratitude for their support over the past year.”
