After comedy helped her cope with mental health struggles, Perkasie creator Brittany Furlan Lee is using the same medium to help others.

After comedy helped her cope with mental health struggles while growing up, Perkasie comic, actress, and content creator Brittany Furlan Lee is now using the same medium to help others in a similar situation, writes Cathy Applefeld Olson for Forbes.

Furlan Lee, who was once known as the queen of Vine, which secured her the spot on the list of the 30 most influential people on the internet in 2015, continues to hone her craft to both bring laughter to others and help normalize the types of conversations she was unable to have.

And she often makes jokes about mental health to keep the conversation going.

“I do make jokes about mental health all the time and I’ve met so many amazing people because of it,” she said. “People who have really been touched, who can relate and who’ve reached out to me and said, ‘I’m so thankful you shared that because I go through these things and I felt very alone in it.’”

Currently, she is publishing a podcast with comic Brittany Schmitt, where they give their takes on the worst moments shared by listeners and even share their own unhinged stories.
