The Cat’s Meow: Some Furry Friends Strut Their Stuff at Philadelphia CATstravaganza

It was a wildly fun time this past weekend at this year’s Philadelphia CATstravaganza at the Great Philadelphia Expo, writes Billy Penn staff.

The event included judging stations, adoption stands, and a catwalk for the furry contestants, including Bengal ragdoll, sphynx, and Scottish fold breeds.

This is the second year of the Philadelphia CATstravaganza. The host Loving Cats Worldwide, founded by Steven Meserve, holds events across North America and the United Kingdom.

The two-day competition included categories for best kitten, cat, alter (neutered or spayed), household pet, and household pet kitten.

Five judges were on the panel this year. Within each category, cats are judged against others of the same breed.

“I’ve never had a cat that just makes me laugh on a regular basis,” she said. “He’s in your business and in your face.”

During the event, the SPCA, Project Meow, Furrever Friends, and Stray Cat Blues, Inc. set up adoption stands in hopes of finding forever homes for some of their cats.

More than 5,000 visitors came to see over 60 cats compete, according to Damian Hilton, LCWW’s Global Operations Communicator.
