New Start Date Announced for New Hope-Lambertville Bridge Project
The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission has announced a rescheduling of the New Hope-Lambertville Bridge Rehabilitation Project from January 29 to January 30, writes Jeff Werner for The Patch.
This delay follows a request from the project contractor for an additional preparation day.
Effective Tuesday morning, a significant traffic detour will be implemented for New Jersey-bound vehicles at the intersection of Bridge and Main Streets in New Hope. This detour is part of an eight-month plan to facilitate bridge work.
During this period, Pennsylvania-bound traffic will be rerouted to the lane usually reserved for New Jersey-bound vehicles. This shift is expected to last until May, after which it will return to its regular route.
Pedestrian access across the bridge will remain open throughout the project.
The New Jersey-bound detour will start from two points: East Bridge and Main Streets in New Hope, and West Bridge Street and Route 202, west of New Hope’s commercial center.
Stage 1 of the project involves creating a construction zone on the bridge’s upstream side. This area will facilitate tasks like installing a debris-containment platform, scaffolding, cleaning, repairs, painting, and electrical work.
Further updates, including specific end dates for project stages, will be announced in the spring.
