Bucks County Collector Snaps Up World’s Priciest Irish Whiskey
Mike Daley, a Bucks County multi-millionaire and prolific whiskey collector, recently bought a 30-year-old Irish whiskey for a record-breaking $2.8 million, writes Fionnula Boyle for the Irish Star.
The very rare bottle of The Emerald Isle and all the luxury items that accompany it is the most expensive ever sold, beating the previous record by $100,000.
According to the Craft Irish Whiskey, the single malt Irish whiskey is the “rarest triple-distilled single malt in existence.” The company produced just seven bottles of the spirit and encased each of them in a designer box that is as unique and exorbitant as the whiskey itself.
The bottle Daley purchased comes with a decanter, a bespoke Fabergé egg with an emerald gem, a custom timepiece, and two Cohiba cigars. All of these additions are snugly contained in a custom walnut case.
Meanwhile, the whiskey was aged in a “variety of casks” for three decades, which has provided it with an “unrivaled intensity of flavor,” said the company.
Daley is one of the most prolific whiskey collectors in the world, owning one of the nation’s largest private whiskey collections with thousands of bottles.
“Irish is the future of whiskey. I’m excited to be part of it, as a collector, but most importantly as a drinker,” he said.
