In the verdant landscapes of New Hope, Adam Dusen and Sunghee Kim have cultivated a unique farming oasis known as Hundred Fruit Farm, writes Emily Kovach for PAEats.

Embracing a philosophy far from conventional agriculture, the duo has dedicated their 10-acre land to fruit trees and berry bushes, prioritizing long-term growth over immediate yield.

Their innovative approach extends to a unique Buyer’s Club, offering subscribers the opportunity to pick fresh produce directly from the farm and purchase CSA-style boxes.

Hundred Fruit Farm stands as a testament to regenerative farming, shunning synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, GMOs, and antibiotics.

At its core is the practice of permaculture, a system based on working harmoniously with nature and creating self-sustaining ecosystems.

With a background in philosophy and sustainable development, Dusen’s passion for agriculture was ignited through WWOOFing (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) and later solidified through permaculture design courses.

Kim, initially an animal behavior specialist and city dweller, has fully embraced farm life, joining Dusen full-time on the farm in 2023.

The couple faced significant hurdles in acquiring land due to affordability. They credit Dusen’s parents, co-residents on the farm, with making their dream feasible.

Their approach is adaptable, suitable for large and small-scale farms alike, focusing on diversity to hedge against climate unpredictability.
