Sledding is one of the fun winter activities that can be enjoyed by both the young and old alike. Luckily, those looking for some of the best sledding spots that can provide hours of enjoyment do not have to go far from home, writes Nick Vadala for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Newtown’s Tyler State Park is sprawls over 1,700 acres and is one giant downhill slope. Some of the best spots are just below its Upper Plantation Picnic Area parking lot.

Nockamixon State Park in Quakertown also has a great sledding spot in the area above the park’s marina, but we wary of hunting areas.

Beyond Bucks County, Marsh Creek State Park in Downingtown provides a whopping seven acres of sledding hills to choose from.

Rose Tree Park in Media is another great choice with 120 acres of gentle, rolling slopes ideal for both young and inexperienced sledders.

Finally, in addition to being a historic landmark, Valley Forge National Historical Park features great sledding places for the entire family. Some of the best spots include the hills near Memorial Arch and the statue of Anthony Wayne.
