The project to create a butterfly garden in Upper Makefield to memorialize the seven victims of flash flooding is underway.

The project to create a butterfly garden in Upper Makefield to memorialize the seven victims of flash flooding that hit parts of the township in July is moving forward, writes Jeff Werner for the Patch.

The garden will be developed at Brownsburg Park, and will provide a place for “comfort and reflection,” said Tom Cino, chairman of the board of supervisors.

Plans for the garden will be made using input and guidance from the families of the victims.

“We are in the very early stages and the project will soon be turned over to the various boards and committees for development,” said Cino.

He added that the township will also offer opportunities for community support as plans progress.

“On July 15 our community experienced a tragedy – a tragedy when seven innocent lives were lost in a violent flash flood,” said Cino.

“The outpouring of support from our community has made us proud and has been a tremendous comfort to the families.”
