A $13 million project in Doylestown’s Central Park has officially broken ground, which includes an array of construction.

A $13 million project in Doylestown’s Central Park has officially broken ground, writes Jeff Werner for The Patch.

The rehabilitation includes an 18,000 square foot recreation center, a comfort station, a selection of athletic courts.

The community center features a 7,700 square foot indoor gymnasium, a 300 square foot kitchen, an all-purpose room and a lobby.

The project also calls for the constructing of four tennis courts, six pickleball courts, two basketball courts, and two bocce ball courts.

Two public restrooms will be built near Kids Castle and the park’s amphitheater.

These enhancements come at the helm of Central Park celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

The cost of improvements is funded by $1.5 million in grants, $1.5 million from the state, $400,000 in budgetary transfers, and $720,000 from a cell tower sale.

Barbara Lyons, the chair of the township’s board of supervisors, anticipates the construction to take a year.
