The Fleming siblings, owners of Lower Makefield’s Shady Brook Farm are selling 80 of their 130-acre property to DeLuca Homes, writes Peg Quann for Bucks County Courier Times.

The Fleming siblings will still retain 50 acres for family-oriented entertainment events. This decision comes amid the area’s evolution into a town center, marked by the nearby Prickett Preserve retail and housing complex.

Shady Brook Farm has a deep history in Bucks County, starting with the Flemings’ great-grandfather in 1908.

Initially a wholesale farming business, the family shifted to retail in the 1980s due to surrounding housing developments.  They added agricultural entertainment to their offerings, significantly boosting their business.

Now, with developments like Prickett Preserve and Torbert Farm nearby, the Flemings see a need to adapt.  The farm will continue hosting popular events like Summer UnWINEd Concerts and Fall Fest and sell farm-fresh produce. The Flemings also plan to maintain educational programs about farming.

Their plan is still in the preliminary stages and aims to retain most of their 50 full-time and 150 seasonal workers. Additionally, the siblings will take over their parents’ Rose Bank Winery

The Flemings are working with local authorities while aiming to preserve Shady Brook Farm’s legacy while adapting to the changing landscape.

Shady Brook Farm’s Summer unWINEd Concerts will still continue following the sale.
