Neshaminy girls’ basketball has all the pieces it needs to put together a strong season and get back to playoff contention, but it will be up to its senior leaders to get them there, writes Andrew Robinson for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“We have to lead,” said senior Lola Ibarrondo. “Everything we do is being watched by the freshmen. We have to set a good example for them, but also help them to grow. That’s pretty much the goal this year and then they can carry that into their next seasons ahead of them.”

Ibarrondo, who will continue her basketball career at Holy Family, and senior Reese Zemitis, who has committed to Bucknell, helped lead the team to the division title last season. Neshaminy made a state playoff appearance for the last two seasons but the team has yet to advance past the first round in Class 6A.

“Lola and Reese could not be doing a better job as captains taking these young kids under their arms,” said Neshaminy coach John Gallagher.
