The Pig Placement Networks at Ross Mill Farm in Jamison is a safe place for abused and abandoned pet pigs who are waiting to find their forever home, writes David Matthau for the WHYY.

The organization also serves as a boarding facility for pet pigs.

“We’re placing pigs all over the country, we’re like a match-making organization, whereby we’re trying to educate the prospective new family to the pigs who need a home,” said Susan Armstrong-Magidson, founder and president of the Pig Placement Network.

Armstrong-Magidson fell in love with pigs more than three decades ago because they are smart and emotional animals.

“They actually think through situations so they can get their way,” said Magidson. “They realize if they do this first then this will happen, so they can actually out-manipulate us.”

Same of the pigs under the organization’s care stay indoors, while those that are more like barnyard pets spend their time roaming the farm. There are also outdoor and indoor pens available while the pigs are staying there.
