Dressing your feline in a costume might be cute for Instagram but most fur-babies find them irritating, writes Dr. Liz Bales.

These sneaky creatures might try to slink and slide out of a costume but risk getting strangled. If you must do it for the ‘gram, make sure you’re cognizant of your kitty.

Glow Sticks might be fun to wear at costume parties, but maybe not so pleasant for your cats if they get their paws on them.

One bite into the stick could cause your kitty to drool profusely and require plenty of clean water to wash off.  

Chocolate is a Halloween candy staple but is dangerous for both cats and dogs. Cocoa can cause vomiting, diarrhea and heart arrhythmias.

Milk chocolate does not have high levels of cocoa, however dark chocolate or Baker’s chocolate is more dangerous for your furry friends.  

Jack-O-Lanterns are a festive decoration for spooky season, but a flickering candle is sure to cause trouble if your cat is not kept away from it.

Dr. Bales says that flames or any décor such as feathers and can cause gastro-intestinal irritation.
