A 99-year-old Quakertown resident has been a Phillies fan for seven decades, and her dedication has not wavered, writes Dave Uram for KYW Newsradio.

Martine Beahn has not let the elements stop her from missing a game. She recalls watching her favorite team on the television with a late friend when a thunderstorm cut out the power.

But instead of lighting a candle and opening a book, Beahn and her friend went to the car and listened to the game on the radio.

Beahn who grew up near Quakertown, has always been known for her worth ethic and hobbies. She used to be a businesswoman for the retailer F.W. Woolworth Company

Widowed at 55, she took on an independent life full of many hobbies, including piano and crocheting.

Now at 99 years old, and a resident of Independence Court, Beahn says she stays sharp by reading, watching Jeopardy, playing Bingo, and of course rooting for her team.

Beahn says her favorite player is Kyle Schwarber and catcher J.T. Realmuto.

Beahn is a mother of three, with six grandkids, and three great-grandchildren. Her family says they plan to throw a Phillies-themed celebration for her 100th birthday.

Read more about the 99-year-old’s lifelong dedication to the Phillies in KYW Newsradio.
