Harcum College Honors Trustee and Alumni at Circle of Excellence Dinner
Harcum College celebrated the achievements of three esteemed individuals during the Circle of Excellence Dinner held on October 6.
Over 100 guests attended the event hosted by President Jon Jay DeTemple and First Lady Margi DeTemple.
The awards presented during the evening were the Circle of Excellence Distinguished Honoree award, Outstanding Alumna, and Outstanding Young Alumnus.
Introduced in 2019, the Circle of Excellence award celebrates Harcum College’s most generous donors, specifically recognizing individuals who have contributed $50,000 or more.
This year, the honor of Circle of Excellence Distinguished Honoree was presented to Denis C. Boyle. Serving on multiple non-profit boards, Boyle’s dedication to Harcum College is evident in his 30-year tenure as a trustee, including pivotal roles as Board Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Chair of the Academic Affairs Committee.
After a commendable 31-year career with Arco Chemical/Lyondell Chemical Company, Boyle retired from roles that spanned manufacturing, purchasing, business management, and environmental health and safety.
The Outstanding Alumna Award was conferred upon Karen Naylor ’92, a passionate educator and alumna from Harcum’s inaugural Dental Hygiene class.
As an Associate Professor of Dental Hygiene and Senior Clinic Coordinator at Harcum College, Naylor has earned numerous accolades, including the Philip Klein Memorial Award for outstanding teaching and the Lindback Award, recognizing sustained excellence in teaching.
Her commitment to the institution extends beyond the classroom, serving on the Harcum College Alumni Association Board of Directors, and as a member of the Harcum Chapter of Sigma Phi Alpha – Dental Hygiene National Honor Society.
Highlighting the achievements of younger alumni, Augustine Okosun ’07 was honored with the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. A former Harcum Bears basketball player, Okosun continued his academic and athletic pursuits at Seton Hall and Northwood.
With advanced degrees from Northwood University and the University of Phoenix, Okosun is now a doctoral candidate at Capella University. His dedication to healthcare administration is evident in his leadership roles across multiple healthcare institutions in the U.S. and Nigeria.
